3 Ironmans in 90 days — preparations for the final IM of this year have begun.
The two weeks right after Ironman Copenhagen fell into the “doing nothing” category, at least in terms of sport. That said, the recovery factor wasn’t really there either — even 3.5 weeks later you don’t feel particularly great…
Still, you don’t want to show up completely unprepared to a world championship, so training had to begin again. The first week looked like this:
- Monday: 1h swim with a bit too much threshold work; thanks to Gerhard for the mental support, otherwise I would have quit much earlier
- Tuesday: easy 1h run with very very heavy legs and correspondingly slow pace
- Wednesday: 1.5h on the bike, easy aerobic
- Thursday: very short swim in the morning, easy 1h run at noon
- Friday: first longer run of 2h — the slowest run in 1.5 years. The battery was empty from the start and somehow got even emptier
- Saturday: 1h swim in steady rain in a completely empty pool. In the afternoon another 3h on the bike up to the Königstuhl in Heidelberg
- Sunday: 4.5h on the bike, easy aerobic; followed by a short brick run
All of that was more than enough to fall asleep on the couch Sunday evening, dead tired 😉
