The week kicked off on Monday with a well-deserved complete rest day, and Tuesday’s 75-minute bike ride contributed nicely to recovery as well.
On Wednesday there was one more longer brick session on the schedule: 3h on the bike with 2h at race pace, followed by a run at race pace and above. For the bike we were prepared for rain and rode the cross bike and MTB accordingly. Particularly annoying in hindsight was that we somehow managed not to get wet … Oh well, at least the cross bike got some use.
Thursday was an hour in the water, mostly at race pace for race simulation.
Friday called for an easy continuous run of 45 minutes. Saturday followed with an easy 75-minute GA1 swim session and a one-hour run.
On Sunday the rain caught up with me on the bike, so I arrived home after 1.5 hours completely filthy and soaking wet. The brick run that followed felt pretty good — the splits give me reason to hope for a solid marathon.
Overall it was a very relaxed week — so relaxed that by Sunday evening my legs were screaming for movement. I’m very happy with my form; I just need some freshness back in the legs.
