The week started Monday with an easy swim — legs and arms were still pretty beat from Challenge Kraichgau. In hindsight I could have saved myself the trip, since I lost my swim cap, goggles, and swim watch at the pool. The first two I can live with — I have more than enough swim caps and the goggles were already well-worn… but the good swim watch, that really wasn’t necessary.
Tuesday had an easy 1.5-hour run and a 75-minute bike session on the schedule; both went smoothly and without incident.
Wednesday was supposed to be a 5-hour bike session with a short brick run — it turned into 3.5 hours on the bike and no run. The reason: the weather. It rained all day, more or less, and at some point I’d had enough and was completely frozen. “Don’t get sick” was the priority, hence the early stop.
Thursday was a recovery day with a 1-hour swim, followed by strength training Friday morning. Friday evening brought the long run — 2.5 hours with short accelerations.
Saturday I spent a good chunk of time at the pool: a 1.5-hour swim session plus some relaxation and rest.
Sunday was the Triathlon in Maxdorf. The race report is the next post.
